NBA is a sport that almost every American raves about. Not only is it an addictive sport, but it is also one that has created celebrities from across the globe. When you think of basketball at a professional level, you feel about eminent names like Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
However, there are some fantastic underdogs in this sport that not every other NBA fanatic would know about. And, that is a shame, which is why we are here to highlight some of the underrated NBA players of all time.
- Chris Mullin
Unless you are a heavy NBA fan who keeps yourself engaged with every tournament, chances are that you wouldn’t have heard of Chris Mullin. He is currently appointed as the General Manager of the Golden State Warriors but was an eminent player back in the day. He was part of the teams that won gold in the 1984 and 1992 Olympics.

Would you be surprised to know that Kevin Johnson, popularly known as KJ was awarded the Most Improved Player Award in 1989 along with the All-NBA Team five times during his professional career? Despite all the achievements that he has backed, including the FIBA World Championship and Dream Team II, his name doesn’t come up when discussing the most popular NBA players.

Some people must have heard his name while some might have not. He was often nicknamed as the “scoring machine” that averaged at least 30 or more points in each game through the four consecutive seasons of the NBA tournaments. He finished his last game with an average score of 24.3 points, which is a lot more than some of the renowned NBA players that you know of.
- Alex English
Winner of the All-Star with the Nuggets 8 times, Alex English deserves an honorable mention in the list. He is starred 12th in the history of scoring in the NBA. He was also the only and first NBA player who scored 2000 points in eight consecutive seasons in the tournaments, making him one of the absolute best NBA players that you can come across.
- Joe Dumars
While we are at it, let us also include Dumars in the list. He played mainly for Detroit Pistons and took the team to the rise of fame consecutively in 1989 and 1990. He also won the 1989 Finals MVP but was eventually overshadowed by Isaiah Thomas. However, we knew for a fact that when talking about the underrated NBA players, we had to include his name in the list.
