What NBA famous stats might be broken this upcoming season

With the 2022/23 NBA season fast approaching, there will be many basketball fans that will be looking ahead to what could potentially happen on the court that involves their favorite team. Indeed, there will be many that will be wondering whether their team has what it takes to become the next NBA Champions, while others will be looking for players to have stand-out campaigns where they make everyone take notice of what they can bring to the league.

Notwithstanding, while a plethora of fans will be looking at the potential winners when it comes down to placing bets on the sporting event throughout the season, there may be a number of fans who will be looking at the famous NBA stats and milestones that could potentially be achieved in the upcoming 2022/23 season. There are a few of them that are worth mentioning…

Mr. Triple Double” Russell Westbrook could make 200 this season
Having finished the season with 10 triple-doubles for the Los Angeles Lakers last season, NBA stats took his total to an incredible 194. This means Russell Westbrook is just six away from becoming the first player in history to be able to record 200! He is not known as “Mr. Triple Double” for nothing!

Given that he appears to be able to double figures in this stat consistently, it would not be a surprise if he was able to achieve this feat rather quickly. Take a look at what he has achieved in his last eight seasons below:

  • 2014-15 NBA 11 (1st)
  • 2015-16 NBA 18 (1st)
  • 2016-17 NBA 42 (1st)
  • 2017-18 NBA 25 (1st)
  • 2018-19 NBA 34 (1st)
  • 2019-20 NBA 8
  • 2020-21 NBA 38 (1st)
  • 2021-22 NBA 10

LeBron James could set a couple of records
Given that we all know how good LeBron James is, it is perhaps no surprise that he could be about to set a number of records in the 2022/23 season. He currently has 105 triple-doubles to his name, and if he is able to record just three this season, he will pass Jason Kidd for fourth on the all-time list, thus climbing further up the overall rankings as the best player to have ever competed in the NBA.

However, many will probably expect him to achieve other records, too. Namely, achieving the most points to have ever been scored in the league. Currently, the 37-year-old is second on the list having notched up 37,062. He is just 1,325 points behind fellow Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and while that may sound like a lot, many expect him to be able to accomplish it.

LeBron was able to score 30.3 points per game last season, and given that he would only need 22 points a game if he were to play in 60 matches rather than a full season, it is something many believe will happen. Additionally, the legendary baller could also move up the all-time assists chart, as he needs just 97 to go past Magic Johnson and move up to sixth. If he manages to replicate the 350-assist season he had last year, then he could end up passing Mark Jackson (290) and Steve Nash (291) on the list, too. There is no doubt he will add to his 10,045 at the moment, but could we see him go from seventh to fourth?

Final Thoughts
While we have only focused on two players here in Russell Westbrook and LeBron James, there are a number of NBA milestones that can be potentially broken in the upcoming 2022/23 NBA season!
