In my eigth season with the Phoenix Suns, I was named Assistant General Manager/Vice President of Basketball Strategy in April 2023. I manage strategic operations within Basketball Operations, including overseeing the basketball data, information, and research team, as well as the performance science and research team. Working alongside President of Basketball Operations/General Manager James Jones, I also manage all basketball technology and innovation projects, and assist with our salary cap strategy and financial planning.
I began my current position following two seasons as the Suns’ Vice President of Basketball Strategy and Evaluation, where I additionally managed the team’s personnel evaluation and scouting process. During the team’s run to the NBA Finals in the 2020-21 season, I worked as Chief of Staff/Director of Basketball Strategy, helping to assemble the team’s Western Conference title-winning roster. In addition to serving as Director of Basketball Strategy for the 2019-20 season, I also held positions of Basketball Strategy Analyst and Basketball Operations Analyst since my first position with the Suns as a Basketball Analytics Intern in 2016.
Prior to joining the Suns, I worked for the men’s basketball program at Baylor University, serving as Graduate Assistant from 2015-2017 after previously working as the Bears’ Head Manager. I earned both a Master’s Degree in sport management and a Bachelor’s Degree in political science and government from Baylor. In a headlined feature story on ESPN in 2022, I became the first basketball operations executive in NBA history to publicly acknowledge being gay.
