The toughest challenge of my life: nothing comes close to the extent to which I was stretched to excel on the court and make career impacting decisions off the court on a daily basis. The physical challenge of battling through a 3 hour+ match in 110 degree heat in India, the challenge of getting of a 12 hour cross-continental flight and performing at a world-class level the very next day, the pressure of carrying the weight of your country's expectations in Davis Cup against world #1 ranked…
The toughest challenge of my life: nothing comes close to the extent to which I was stretched to excel on the court and make career impacting decisions off the court on a daily basis. The physical challenge of battling through a 3 hour+ match in 110 degree heat in India, the challenge of getting of a 12 hour cross-continental flight and performing at a world-class level the very next day, the pressure of carrying the weight of your country's expectations in Davis Cup against world #1 ranked players, pushed me on many dimensions way beyond I ever thought I could reach. This was a truly incredible experience that for a person in their 20s, managing all aspects of such a demanding and competitive career, prepares one for any challenge that comes your way thereafter. Looking back at the career from my current vantage point, assessing all the other options that high potential student-athletes have coming out of undergrad at a US college, I would not trade a single moment of my professional sport experience for anything else.
